Salford celebrated in style at this year’s Manchester Pride parade over the weekend.
Salford entered two floats into the parade that toured Manchester city centre, one of them being by the ‘Eccles Community Float’ group.
The colourful and vibrant float was based around Alice in Wonderland with a ‘Mad Hatter tea party’ theme.
Travelling with a lucky few on board were handmade and decorated papermache mushrooms, cardboard cartoon cutouts and pretty paper flowers all in the name of the chosen theme.
Bakestone Bakery, a maker of Eccles Cakes, from Eccles, was the main sponsor of float and baked 1000 cakes specially for the party.

Rachel Potts, Secretary for the Eccles Community Float group said: “The weekend was amazing and stressful but it ended up good in the end.
“It’s been hard work the past few weeks but once it started it all went great.
“My little lad has been really surprised becuase he’s never been to Pride before and he went and watched the parade and was amazed by it.”

Jon Grieves, who is a Community Co-coordinator for the group said: “On the day it was fab – the faces on the crowd as you go past them were really good.
“You get your reward when you’re actually on the float doing what you’ve worked hard for.
“Hopefully it’s given a really positive image out about Eccles which is what we wanted to do.”
This was the group’s first ever float entered into the parade, something which Jon wants to make an annual occurrence: “Yes we do want to do it again.
“We’ll work to see if we can provide something for the float.
“We’ll be more organised next year because we’ll know a bit more how to organise the generator and costumes.”
