Top 5 things to do in Salford this weekend


Its autumn and the weather forecast for the weekend is mixed to say the least, however why not visit one of our weekend attractions on offer?

Bridgewater Bat Walk – Friday 2 September 2016 – 19:00 to 21:00

Join this night time bat walk along the Bridgewater Canal from Monton to Worsley and use a bat detector to hear the sounds they make whilst hunting for insects.

Please bring a torch. This is a canal side walk and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Walk distance: 3.5 miles

Meeting point: Old Fold Park, entrance to the Bridgewater Canal, off Parrin Lane, Monton.

Charity Car Wash
– Saturday 3 September -10am – 5pm

Charity car wash this Saturday 10-5 at Eccles Cross! For £3 you can get your car washed by some of their staff, ask for Rachel or Saskia! and support CLIC Sargent the UK’s leading young people and children’s cancer charity.

Support your local team – Saturday 3 September – 3pm kick off

Why not call in at Moor Lane, Kersal and see Salford City FC take on Alfreton Town. Salford are on impressive form this season and look to be going all the way.

Crescent Fest – Saturday 3 September – 12pm – 11pm

The all day festival at the Crescent Pub, Salford is in aid of raising money for the Myeloma cancer Charity. There are lots of great bands on through the day plus BBQ and into the early hours of the morning the music will continue inside the pub. Bands that are playing so far include, Blaney, Death To The Strange, The Moods, Wolf and surprise guest.

The UKFast City of Salford 10K – Sunday 4 September – 10am – 12pm

The UKFast City of Salford 10K, which welcomed more than 3,500 runners last year, starts outside the MediaCityUK piazza. The route heads eastwards on closed roads along Broadway and follows a tour of Trafford Park before heading back across the MediaCityUK bridge, before finishing back at the MediaCityUK piazza.

The Christie, one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe, is the official charity partner. Runners are welcome to run in aid of their chosen charities. Manchester based cloud provider UKFast is the lead sponsor of the City of Salford 10K.

The first 3 people over the finish line will win a cash prize; £250 for the winner, £150 for second place and £75 for third place. The run also includes chip timing, a medal and commemorative technical t-shirt given to all finishers.
