Tim Sheens to leave Salford Red Devils at the end of the season

Salford Red Devils can confirm that Director of Rugby Tim Sheens will leave the Club at the end of the season to take up a three-year Head Coach role at Hull Kingston Rovers.

Red Devils’ owner Marwan Koukash said: “I have always had a gentleman’s agreement with Tim that if an opportunity came up for him to become a Head Coach in Super League he could take it.

“Ian Watson has developed impressively in his role as Head Coach, meaning the opportunity was not here for Tim to take over as Head Coach at the Red Devils.

“Tim’s influence and experience has greatly benefitted the coaching set-up at our Club and he has worked tirelessly in his efforts to move the Red Devils forward.”

Sheens said: “The decision to leave Salford was not easy but my passion has always been to coach and so I thank Hull KR for such an opportunity. I’d also like to thank Marwan for the chance to work in Super League.

“Given that the current competition is still in progress, for me it’s business as usual with Ian and the team Salford before I take up my new post .”
