Salford gang raids: Four arrests and large quantity of ‘serious’ drugs seized

Four people suspected of being involved in gang supply of Class A drugs were arrested in dawn raids in Salford today, Tuesday 20 September.

From around 6am police from Project Gulf carried out drugs warrants across the city.

It’s understood the men had been under surveillance for several months at the time of the arrests.

GMP’s Salford Organised Crime Unit have been working on a major operation linked to organised crime in Salford, the force said.

One Salford man aged 27, a 28-year-old man from Wythenshawe and a 33-year-old from Salford are in police custody on suspicion of supplying Class A and Class B drugs.

A fourth man, age 38, from Wythenshawe, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs.

A 32-year-old man is also being interviewed by officers for conspiracy to supply Class A and Class B drugs.

None of the suspects have been named.

Detective Inspector Alan Clitherow from GMP’s Project Gulf, said: “The warrants this morning are a result of months of hard work targeting organised crime.

“A large quantity of drugs were seized and we currently have four people in custody for serious drugs offences.

“Drugs destroy lives and have no place in Greater Manchester.

“We will leave no stone unturned to keep drugs, and those who benefit from them, off our streets.

“We will take every opportunity to disrupt criminals and bring them to justice.”

Project Gulf is a multi-agency team made up of police, Salford Council Probation Service and the Youth Offending Service who endeavour to disrupt organised crime groups across the Greater Manchester area.
