Salford school celebrates European Language Day

Children age 3 to 11 from Branwood Preparatory School, in Monton, celebrated European Language Day today, Wednesday 28 September.

The children enjoyed an action packed day embracing European cultures and language.

They started the day with a French themed break time, with croissants, pain au chocolate and not forgetting hot chocolate or ‘chocolat chaud’.

At lunch time, pupils and teachers were treated to the national dish of Spain, paella which was a firm favourite.

Each class was assigned a different European country to study for the day and pupils dressed up in their country’s national colours such as blue and white for Greece, green and red for Italy, and green and orange for Ireland.

Head Teacher, Mrs Kate Follett, said: “European Language Day is a great way to celebrate diversity through language, as well as teaching the children about different cultures. The children had lots of fun listening to their favourite books read aloud in different languages.”
