Armed men steal thousands during cash-in-transit robbery outside Swinton McDonald’s

Armed men stole thousands of pounds in a cash-in-transit robbery at the Bolton Road McDonald’s in Swinton this morning.

Police were called to the fast-food restaurant at around 9am on Friday 30 September after masked men held up the driver with a knife and escaped in a car.

It’s thought the men fled from the scene north along the A666 Bolton Road towards Clifton.

The driver was not reported injured in the attack.

It’s understood the thieves took a four-figure sum in the robbery.

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for witnesses and a statement is expected from the force.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
