Police hunt callous thief who stole money from charity shop in Manchester

Officers have released an e-fit image of a man after a burglary at a city centre charity.

At around 9pm on Thursday 8 September 2016 a man went into the Brahma Kumaris centre on Byrom Street.

A volunteer was confronted by the man who then stole a cash tin containing £60 from behind reception.

Police Constable Laura Bristow, from GMP’s city centre team, said: “This would have been a frightening experience for the member of staff and I’m extremely thankful she was not injured in anyway.

“Although it might seem a small amount of money to some, the centre relies on public donations and this was a heartless crime on a charity which aims to help others in the community.

“I would appeal to anyone who might recognise the man pictures to please call police. I would also ask anyone who might have witnessed something to do with this burglary to please get in touch.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
