Albion Academy Pupils take the Macmillan Cancer Charity to their hearts

Albion Academy pupils have helped raise over £300 again for The Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraising event.

This event was organised by PE teacher Mrs Rachel Bruce, Year 8’s and Year 11’s in memory of her Nana.

The pupils also helped raise over £1000 last June for The Macmillan Summer Lights event which was organised by Pastoral Leader Mrs Jackie Cuddy who has now completed her chemotherapy treatment and returned to work at The Albion Academy.

The Principal of The Albion Academy, Mrs Jenny Langley, is not surprised by the generosity and enthusiasm of the students and staff, and has given her full support to the event held in the school canteen over lunch.

The pupils and staff have bought, baked and donated all the cakes and biscuits to be sold.

She said “The students here have now taken the Macmillan Charity to their hearts. They have a strong sense of community spirit and want to make a difference to others going through similar difficulties to those they know of through staff, relatives and friends of Albion. We are very proud of them and they are very proud of having raised more money for a very important cause. We are looking forward to the next event.”
