With 11,000+ carers on rise MP hosts free Walkden breakfast this Friday

On Friday 7th October Barbara Keeley, MP for Worsley and Eccles South, will be holding a Britain’s Best Breakfast event at the Walkden Gateway to raise money for the Carers Trust.

The event is being held from 10am to 11.30am at Walkden Gateway, 2 Smith Street, Walkden M28 3EZ.

Carers Trust provides essential support, information, advice and services for children, young people and adults caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend.

The charity launched the ‘Britain’s Best Breakfast’ fundraising campaign to raise money to help support more unpaid family carers and to give them a break from their caring role.

Greggs in Walkden have kindly pledged to donate breakfast products for the event.

Barbara said: “Carers Trust offers vital help and support to people living with the challenges of providing unpaid care to a family member or friend.

“I am pleased to be hosting this breakfast event to help raise money so that the Carers Trust can continue working on behalf of unpaid carers.

“With an estimated three in five of us expected to become a carer at some point in our lives, this is an issue that will affect many of us in the future.

“In Worsley and Eccles South there are 11,000 unpaid family carers and that figure is expected to rise.”

“Please come along and join me and other local people for breakfast and refreshments at the Walkden Gateway on Friday 7 October, to help us to raise funds so that the Carers Trust can continue to support carers.”
