Last call to enter Salix Homes gardens competition

Time is running out for Salix Homes tenants in Salford to show off their blossoming gardens.

The housing association is urging residents to enter their gardens into its annual Summer Bloom competition, but the deadline for entries is this Friday.

Now in its sixth year, the popular Summer Bloom event aims to celebrate the efforts of green-fingered folk who work hard to keep communities looking bright and beautiful.

Prizes are given to the best gardens in each category: Most Impressive Garden, Best Communal Garden, Best Hanging Baskets and Tubs, Best Vegetable Garden and Best Small Gardens and Raised Beds.

Jackie Crook, community involvement and new initiatives manager at Salix Homes, said: “We’ve already had dozens of entries from residents with wonderful gardens, but we know there are plenty more people out there who deserve to be recognised for their green-fingered handiwork, so if you think your garden or outdoor space looks blooming marvellous I’d urge you to enter our Summer Bloom competition.”

Entrants must submit photographs of their gardens, hanging baskets and flower beds by Friday 17 July.

You can upload your pictures at www.salixhomes.org/summer-bloom15  or post them to Greg Muir, Salix Homes, Diamond House, 2 Peel Cross Road, Salford, M5 4DT. For more information call Greg on 0161 779 8019 or email hello@salixhomes.org
