Three attacked with hammers as men burst into Salford house party

Two offenders burst into a house on Manchester Road in Clifton, Salford, and violently assaulted three young men with hammers.

At around 9.55am on Saturday 18 July police arrived at the property on the A666 main road near the junction with Billy Lane.

The offenders forced their way into the house where three men, all aged 20, were partying together.

Each suffered head injuries in the assault.

One of the victims made his way outside and escaped the scene.

He was found, covered in blood, by a passerby who administered first aid before calling an ambulance.

It’s understood he was hit in the head with a hammer, suffering a broken jaw and a suspected fractured skull.

He was taken to hospital where he is recovering.

It’s understood the two other young men escaped serious injury.

Police posted an officer on guard outside the house for around five hours on Saturday while they conducted their enquiries.

It is possible the offenders and victims knew one another but Greater Manchester Police said they could not comment further while an investigation was ongoing.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent, causing grievous bodily harm.

He has since been released without charge.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Greater Manchester Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
