Shocked mum’s warning over Eccles burglar sneak

A mum of two young children who scared off a suspected Eccles burglar has warned the local community.

The 22-year-old, who does not want to be named, was shocked to see a man dressed all in black peering through her kitchen window on Cromwell Road in the early hours of Monday morning.

It was around 3am when she saw her back door being nudged and pushed from the outside.

“I was shocked and rushed to get my partner but when the man saw that I had seen him he ran off,” she said.

“My two children are only two and four years old but luckily I managed to get them back to sleep without realising anything had happened.

“There was someone else reporting s similar thing a few weeks ago, so I just wanted to make everyone aware.”

At around 3.20am police received reports of a suspicious male trying the back doors of houses in the Cromwell Road area.

Police also cordoned off a phone box at the corner of Cromwell Road and Milton Street in Eccles and sent a crime scene investigator to gather evidence.

A force spokesperson said: “When the man was spotted he left the garden of the property on foot.”

Local officers are asking all residents to be aware and to double-check that their doors are locked at night before going to sleep.
