Man attacked with wooden sticks in robbery outside Weaste pub

A man was attacked as he got out of a taxi outside the Weaste Hotel pub in Salford.

Police were called to Edward Avenue in Weaste at 7.30pm last night, Monday 27 July.

The victim was battered with wooden sticks by a group of unknown offenders who then stole the man’s phone and made off on foot down the street.

He suffered bruising to his body and a head wound.

Residents reported seeing the victim covered in blood as police tended to his injuries, which are not life-threatening.

No arrests have yet been made.

Councillor Paul Wilson, who represents Weaste, told SalfordOnline.com: “I’m shocked this event has happened and residents are quite rightly appalled, but I don’t believe this represents the overwhelming majority of genuine people in Weaste.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
