Chapel Street Costcutter robbery: Police appeal for witnesses in Salford

Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Salford.

At around 5pm on Saturday 1 August 2015 two men approached the Costcutter store on Chapel Street, Salford, on bicycles and left them at the back of the shop.

They both entered with their faces covered and one of the men jumped over the counter demanded cash while the other man threatened the victim with a screwdriver.

The pair stole £200 before escaping on their bicycles.

The first offender was white and wearing a light grey hoody with the drawstring pulled tight around his face. He also wore a light and dark grey two-tone Adidas hoody over the top, with dark gloves, tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

The second offender is described as white and wearing a grey hooded Converse top with the hood up, a black scarf over his face, dark gloves, tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

Detective Constable Andrew Quinn said: “This robbery happened in broad daylight, so I am hopeful that someone will have seen something which may prove useful to the investigation.

“These men threatened the terrified shopkeeper with a screwdriver, but thankfully no one was hurt.

“I would like to ask anyone who believes they may have seen these men in the area at the time to contact police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
