£500 WW1 Salford history project grants available now

Local groups and organisations are being invited to bid for grants of up to £500 for history projects in Salford relating to the First World War.

Salfordian soldiers played a huge part in the war – SalfordOnline.com’s own 25-part series looking at the contribution of local soliders is testament enough to that fact.

But the Friends of Salford Museums Association, Salford Community Leisure and Salford City Council are now offering funding for projects which will “add value” to existing First World War Centenary activity.

The Salford Remembers Seed Funding has been provided in association with the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Successful groups will be able to demonstrate how heritage and history will be better identified and recorded as a result of their schemes, as well as how they would get volunteers involved, develop skills, and change people’s attitudes about the war.

You can apply for expenses, resources, venue hire, marketing costs and training, but general overheads like utility bills or office rent will not be covered.

All the winning projects will have to provide case studies with details of outputs and outcomes as proof at the end of their project.

To bid or find out more you can contact Salford’s World War One Centenary Co-ordinator Jenny Doherty on 0161 778 0801.
