Drivers escape serious injury in Eccles crash near Aldi

A minibus and a car collided outside the Eccles branch of Aldi supermarket this afternoon but luckily both drivers avoided serious injury.

Eyewitnesses reported the car’s engine was ‘smoking’ after the crash, sparking fears it could burst into flames.

Police, a fire engine and two ambulances were called to the scene at Church Street in Eccles at 12.35pm today, Thursday 6 August.

The crew from Eccles fire station disconnected the batteries of both vehicles in a bid to stop them catching fire.

Paramedics treated both drivers at the scene but neither required hospital treatment.
