Fundraising habits of people in North West revealed

– Charity urges people in North West to Raise Funds Your Way for research –

A fifth of people in the North West would be less likely to sponsor someone for charity if they missed them out of a tea round at work, according to figures released as part of the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) new Raise Funds Your Way campaign.

The nation’s heart charity polled 2,000 UK adults and found almost a quarter (23%) of adults in the North West said they would be more likely to sponsor someone if they found them attractive, while almost half (47%) said they would be more likely to donate if what they were doing was really challenging.

Meanwhile 46% of people in the region said they would be more likely to sponsor someone for charity if what they were doing was really quirky and unique.

Generous fundraisers in the North of England raised over £2.65million for the BHF’s life saving research last year. But still around 857,000 people in the North West are fighting a daily battle with cardiovascular disease.

The BHF urgently needs more people to organise their own unique fundraising events to help transform the lives of those living with these devastating conditions.

Tina Bajec, Head of Raise Funds Your Way at the BHF, said: “We never cease to be amazed by the extraordinary lengths people go to fundraise for the BHF. Every contribution, big or small, plays a crucial part in every breakthrough we make so we are incredibly grateful for their support.

“But we urgently need more people to join our fight for every heartbeat and help power our life saving research. That’s why we’re calling on everyone across the UK to Raise Funds Your Way to help support our vital work.

“By organising your own off-the-wall fundraising event you can help transform the lives of the seven million people living with the burden of cardiovascular disease.”
