New jobs as estate agents Mistoria open head office in Salford pub

Buy-to-let and student lettings firm Mistoria is to open its new head office in the disused Unicorn pub in Pendleton.

The Unicorn, at the corner of Agnew Place and Broughton Road in Salford, closed two years ago.

Plans were submitted in September 2014 to bring around 30 staff from The Mistoria Group to transform the vacant pub into an estate agents office.

It will focus on ‘high-yield’ student lettings and multiple-occupancy flatshares.

Five new jobs in marketing, project management, lettings and administration are expected to be created by the move.

The opening date for the new office has now been confirmed as Saturday 15 August.

Mistoria, which also has offices on Church Street in Eccles, will open a new office in Wavetree, Liverpool, on the same day.

The Unicorn already has its own place in Salford musical history, by way of famed Salford son Graham Nash.

The guitarist, who played in The Hollies, and supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, bought the pub for his mother at the height of his fame in the 1970s.

The silver-haired musician could occasionally be spotted behind the bar pulling pints.

Originally a Groves and Whitnall pub, it changed hands in 1963 to the Greenall and Whitley brewery.

The Unicorn will become The Mistoria Group’s new head office, housing Mistoria Sales and Lettings; MCC Accountants; Mistoria Investments; and the Mistoria maintenance company.

Mish Liyanage, Managing Director of The Mistoria Group said: “We are delighted to be opening two new offices in Salford and Liverpool.

“We are investing over £350,000 in the creation of five executive positions in Salford, as well as expanding Mistoria’s local apprentice scheme, in line with the group philosophy in investing back into the local community.

“These two new offices will enable us to service the local universities, hospitals and their students.

“Our growth is down to a sharp increase in demand for our range of property investment and management services. Our new offices and staff will enable us to service our new clients and provide a springboard for further growth and expansion.”
