A lorry driver has escaped unharmed after his wagon overturned in Trafford Park this afternoon.

Fire crews and police were called to Ashburton Road West in Trafford Park at 3.30pm today, Thursday 26 March following reports that a lorry had flipped onto its side.

The 44-year-old driver was just inches from a lamppost when the cab smashed into the road.

He was lucky to escape without serious injury and did not require hospital treatment.

The wagon, which was carrying waste paper, was still on its side at 4.15pm and awaiting removal from the scene.

Drivers are warned to avoid the area if possible and to expect traffic delays.
