X1 The Exchange gets planning approval in Salford

A £13.6 million block of flats on Trafford Road in Salford has won planning consent from Salford City Council.

X1 Developments got the green light for permission to build an 11-storey block of 140 apartments on land between Trafford Road and Elmira Way.

Planning officers had already recommended approval for the tower block, called X1 The Exchange, which will be built on a former car park used for Manchester United match day overspill.

The building will include 26 one and 114 two-bedroom flats, along with underground parking and two retail units facing Trafford Road.

Work has just started on site with the scheme due for completion in April 2016.

It’s the latest coup for X1, who are already underway with at £3.4 million 109-unit student block at Chapel Street in Salford, as well as the refurb of Salford’s former Town Hall at Bexley Square into 125 apartments.
