Older People’s Day

UK Older People’s Day is on 1st October every year to coincide with the UN International Day of Older Persons. The main aim for the day is to be a celebration of the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society and the economy, especially their given time volunteering.

Spreading the message that age is no barrier to being involved in community life, Older People’s Day challenges the negative stereotypes so often associated with old age and encourages people to get active in later life. Every day, older people across Salford are making the most of their time and energy by organising community activities, volunteering, helping out family and friends, and generally contributing to society and to the economy.
Older Peoples Day

This is a long-term challenge, not just Salford will need the support of everyone. Together, we need to change attitudes about ageing and older people, and do more to value the contribution that older people make.
