Cadishead Way closed in Irlam after lorry traps car under wheels


Part of the A57 Cadishead Way in Irlam has been closed after a car slammed into a lorry and was pinned it beneath the wheels.

The driver of the maroon Citroen Saxo was lucky to escape injury in the smash, which happened at around 5.15pm tonight.

The car is still stuck under the HGV and police have closed Cadishead Way at the junction of Fairhills Road.

Officers are directing traffic back towards Liverpool Road.

The lorry driver is also not thought to be injured and ambulances are not required.

Traffic is slow, and backing up towards the Barton stretch.

Delays are expected throughout rush-hour this evening, Thursday 3 September.
