More delays for drivers as Fitzwarren Street closed for three weeks


Urban Vision are to close Fitwarren Street on Salford precinct to install a new pedestrian crossing.

Highways workers are expected to be on site for approximately three weeks, with work starting on the morning of Wednesday 1 April.

The road will be closed from the junction of Lower Seedley Road near Tesco Extra down to the roundabout at Pendleton Way.

There will be no access to Lower Seedley Road from its junction with Fitzwarren Street from Tuesday 7 April until 5pm on Sat 11 April .

The works include building a new pedestrian crossing facility with dropped crossings, tactile paving and pedestrian guards.

The road will also be partly resurfaced.

Traffic lights will be installed when the work is complete.

A spokesperson for Urban Vision said: “The majority of the works will be undertaken during the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

“To carry out the works safely effectively it will be necessary to implement a full temporary road closure.

“Bus services will directed along the diversion route of Langworthy Road, Liverpool Street, Lower Fitzwarren Street up to Pendleton Way.”

Work is expected to be completed by Wednesday 22 April.
