Man, 51, seriously injured after being crushed by car in Walkden

Multiple police, fire and ambulances crews were called to the scene of an horrific accident in Walkden this afternoon, Tuesday 22 September.

A 51-year-old man was injured in the front drive of a house on Walkden Road, near the Cock Hotel.

The man is understood to have suffered severe abdominal and chest injuries.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene and has been taken to Salford Royal Hospital with serious injuries.

The hospital’s serious trauma unit were informed ahead of his arrival.

Emergency services, including seven police vehicles, four ambulances and the North West Air Ambulance were scrambled to the scene at 12 noon today.

Police investigate the trailer

It’s believed the man was helping to hoist blue a V8 Chevrolet Corvette onto a trailer when it fell, trapping him underneath the vehicle.

The North West Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene but later stood down, with police directing traffic around the house due to the number of emergency vehicles.

UPDATE: As of 2pm there are four police cars at the scene, testing the winch between the trailer and the van. Neighbours believe the connection between the van and the trailer failed, and the supercar rolled onto the victim. Traffic is now flowing freely around the scene.
