Key 103 launch Salford search for new presenter

Local radio station Key 103 are giving one listener the chance to become the host of a brand new Friday night show.

‘Your Big Chance’ launched at the University of Salford’s MediaCityUK campus and over the next six weeks will seek out the best new radio talent from across the North West.

In mid-October a group of hopefuls will be brought to the Key 103 studios to audition and record their own demo shows, which will be available on the Key 103 website.

Listeners will be able to check out all the entries and support their favourite on the site and on social media.

The ‘Your Big Chance’ judging panel includes Key 103, Radio City and Rock FM DJ Michael Blades who landed his dream job after winning a similar competition.

Michael said: “Your Big Chance is such a fab opportunity to not only get your foot in the door of an extremely competitive industry, but to immediately land you on-air on some of the UK’s most prestigious radio stations. Over 5 years on and I’m very lucky to still be presenting and I love it.”

The University of Salford’s Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment, John McCarthy added: “I am delighted that the  University of Salford has been able to team up with Bauer to find the North West’s newest DJ.

“As a University we recognise the importance of real world opportunities and working in partnership with Bauer, a global media company, to provide a new voice to stations Key 103, Radio City and Rock FM is really exciting.”

Key 103 listeners will be able to submit videos explaining why they should be the next Key 103 host from Monday 28 September to Sunday 11 October.

Anyone who is over 18 and is from the North West is eligible to apply.

The winner’s first live show will be broadcast on Friday 30 October.
