Live: Salford Red Devils vs Hull KR – Super 8 Qualifiers

Join us here from 2.15pm for live commentary and all the pre-match build up to the final Super 8 Qualifier of the season as Salford take on Hull KR.

Despite the shock confirmation – revealed to SalfordOnline.com in August – that not only Rangi Chase, Harrison Hansen and Theo Fages but also Cory Paterson were set to leave the AJ Bell, there’s still an air of excitement to see what Salford can produce.

It’s the last hurrah for Salford for the former Great Britain prop Adrian Morley, Hansen and Lama Tasi.

On KR’s side, acting captain Tyrone McCarthy, Graeme Horne, Shaun Lunt and Dane Chisholm are all set to feature against the Devils as Rovers aim to end their campaign with seven Super 8s wins from seven.

Chris Chester has picked a strong side for the grandstand final as he aims to end the campaign on a high.

Tony Puletua is one of the four players to make way with the on-loan prop ineligible to face Salford this week, whilst Liam Salter (shoulder) and Aaron Ollett (knee) miss out through injuries sustained in last Friday’s victory at Bramall Lane.

To get you in the mood you can read recaps of the Devil’s Super 8 performances against Leigh Widnes, departing club captain Adrian Morley’s last home game, against Sheffield Eagles, the embarrassing 41-10 loss to Bradford Bulls, and Wakefield, which at the time head coach Ian Watson was pitching as “a chance to stave off relegation”.

Salford have come a long way since then.

They lie in second place behind today’s table-topping opponents, which means Super League rugby is secured.

They also top the points-scoring for the Super 8 Qualifiers with 217, some 30 ahead of Widnes and Hull KR.

It gives Watson a chance to open up his squad, try different combinations, and set the benchmark for Salford’s 2016 season.
