Three try to escape through roof in Salford cannabis farm raid

Three men have been arrested after trying to escape through the roof of a house being used as a Salford cannabis farm.

Early this morning, Monday 28 September, police executed a drugs raid on a house on Grassfield Avenue in Higher Broughton.

Inside they discovered 200 cannabis plants with a potential street value of around £175,000.

Three men age 21, 24 and 25 tried to escape through a skylight but were arrested shortly afterwards.

All three remain in police custody for questioning on suspicion of producing a controlled drug.

Detectives said information from the community was vital in supporting the arrests.

Inspector Matt Crofts of Greater Manchester Police’s Salford Division said: “Today’s warrant follows intelligence from the communities in Salford who have told us that they do not want cannabis or any drug on their streets.

“We are determined to rid our communities of all drugs but we need the public’s support to continue to provide us with information about illegal activity in their neighbourhood.”

Anyone with information they want to pass to police should call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
