Beechfield United Juniors weekend results

For the second time in seven days Beechfield United Under 15’s Predators travelled to play Stalybridge Celtic.

Last weekend Beechy beat their opponents 6-0 in a league fixture but the Sunday Challenge Cup game was a much close affair. Thanks to two goals from George Davies the Predators held a 2-1 lead at half time but Stalybridge Celtic equalised forcing a penalty shoot-out and following the dreaded spot-kick decider Beechy won 7-6.

Kieron McCarthy was Man of the Match and successful penalty takers for the Predators were Dylan Meredith, Mitchell McGivern, Robert Boardman, Jamie Pollitt, Henry Bonynge, Ethan Haynes and Anjola Onasanya who scored the winning penalty.

Despite being far the better team in their home game with Lymm Rovers a disappointed Under 16’s outfit suffered a 2-0 defeat. In this Timperley and District Junior League Division 3 game Beechy failed to find the back of the net after creating numerous goalscoring opportunities and United gifted their opponents two soft goals. Bradley Hodges picked up the Man of the Match Award.

In their Section C home game the Under 15’s Tornadoes failed to take their chances against Brandlesholme Warriors. Following a set-piece United went a goal down then Brandlesholme led 2-0 despite a suspicion of offside. Just two minutes into the second half Beechy conceded a third goal and with far too many players having an off day the Tornadoes eventually lost the match 6-0.

The Under 13’s Tornadoes faced Winton JFC in the 1st Round of the Challenge Cup and within three minutes of the kick off Jeanny Le Blanc broke down the right wing and his powerful shot almost knocked the keeper into the net but the ball fell kindly for captain Daniel Allerton and he gave United the lead with his first goal of the season.

One effort hit the crossbar and Beechy squandered more chances and went off the pitch at the break still holding a slender 1-0 lead. The Tornadoes continued to push forward looking for more goals and a free kick by Leighton White rattled the crossbar and fifteen minutes from the end he won Beechy a penalty and taking the spot-kick himself made it 2-0. Jeanny Le Blanc outpaced the entire Winton defence and added the third goal then completing the scoring was Jacob Wilson who made sure of a place in the 2nd Round when he made it 4-0. Lewis Vandon was the Tornadoes outstanding player on the day.

Enjoying an easy victory in the Challenge Cup were the Under 12’s Storm who met Swinton Pumas in a midweek 1st Round tie. An accomplished performance from start to finish by Beechy in gloomy and difficult conditions eventually resulted in the Storm hitting double figures. United scored some fantastic goals thanks to Man of the Match Jack Thompson (4) Harry Gartley (3) Bobby Anderson, Kieron Robinson, Declan Hogg, George Moorhouse and Jordan Booth.

Also in the Challenge Cup the Under 12’s Tornadoes were in action when they met Barr Hill Aces at Beech Farm. United from Division 3 produced a superb all-round display against their strong opponents who play in Division 2 and are currently top of the table. The score was 3-3 until the last ten minutes but the Tornadoes had just one substitute available and the players were exhausted following a tremendous hard working performance. Joe Staley, Ellis Kenny and Shaun Heywood scored the goals for Beechy who lost the tie 7-3.

The Under 11’s Storm (9v9) maintained their winning start to the season following their away game with Boothstown Warriors. This Development Group Blue encounter produced a total of twelve goals and on target for Beechy were Man of the Match Adam Rothwell, Mason Turner, Luke Carr, Damion Broughton, Bailey Lloyd and Rome Hodson.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Under 11’s Thunder could only field eight players for this 9v9 fixture and keeping to the spirit of the game United’s opponents Fives Athletic agreed to use eight players. Beechy made a sluggish start and found themselves trailing by three goals but adopting a never say die attitude United reduced the arrears via Harvey Walker.

In the second half United’s overall performance was fantastic and they scored several quality goals via Jake O’Sullivan, Liam Cremins, Reiss Miller and Harvey Walker. There was a great display from Dominic Lawton who took over as goalkeeper in the second period as he was unable to continue outfield due to an injury. Harvey Walker and Jake O’Sullivan shared the Man of the Match Award.

Still seeking their first win of the season are Beechy Under 11’s Tornadoes (9v9) who’s latest Development Group Green match was at home against Deans Youth Panthers. Man of the Match Max Chidgey and Ronan Courtney scored goals for the Tornadoes who deserved at least a draw.

Harrison Davies and Ben Delaney got the goals for the Under 10’s Storm who met Barr Hill Aces at home. Voted Best Player for the Storm following this Development Group Green match was Oliver Riva.

There was another highly-impressive display from the Under 9’s Hurricanes in their home game with neighbours Moorside Rangers Red. Goalscorers for Beechy were Man of the Match Georgi Georgiev and Reilly Happy.

United’s Under 9’s Typhoon were indebted to their goalkeeper Peter Ellis who produced a magnificent Man of the Match performance. In the away game at Fives Athletic the hardworking Joseph Bottomley scored one of the two goals following great play by Sonny O’Brien while Beechy’s other goalscorer was Cole Winstanley.

Beechy Under 9’s Lightning entertained Boothstown JFC Clarets for this Development Group Green fixture. A gutsy display from a spirited United outfit created a couple of goals fired in by Sam Henderson. Star Player was Demi Jones.

Flixton Junior Sharks were the Under 9’s Storm opponents and the teams produced an entertaining game of mini-soccer. Josh McLoughlin and Oliver Percival were on target for Beechy who named Reece James as their Best Player.

The Under 8’s Tornadoes away game at Parkwddn Phoenix kicked-off at 9am and both teams played some great attacking football. It was Parkwyddn who made the most of their opportunities and they held a narrow lead at the break. Freddie Wardle made some brilliant saves to keep the Tornadoes in the match while Joshua Taylor netted his third goal of the season. Joel Thorndyke also helped himself to a goal via a superb strike and Anthony Brophy was the Tornadoes Man of the Match.

Also playing away were the Under 8’s Storm who were in action against Barr Hill Diamonds. In a real sporting contest the players from both teams were a credit to themselves and their clubs. Saul Tagoe was the Storm’s Best Player and goals for Beechy came courtesy of Joshua Kilfoyle, Oliver Cowley and Noah O’Connor.
