Cute canines on display for St Ann’s Hospice

Daring dogs will be leaping into action at a Paws Spooktacular in Heaton Park, Manchester, on Saturday, October 31.

The cute canines will be the stars of the show at the special Halloween party in aid of St Ann’s Hospice.

The Tricks 4 Treats Dog Display Team comprising around a dozen pet pooches will be showing off their talents for the crowds with the Northern Bytes Flyball team also demonstrating their skills.

Another highlight of this popular event is a sponsored 5km walk around the beautiful park with dog owners encouraged to take part.

Cath Howarth, a team leader with Tricks 4 Treats, said: “Our show is highly entertaining and we always get an enthusiastic response from those watching.

“Jumping through the fire hoops is the most dangerous part but the paper hoops is the hardest obstacle to train our pets on because they’ve no idea what’s on the other side.

“We are also inviting owners to let their dogs ‘have-a-go’ at some of the agility equipment which always adds to the fun.”

The Northern Bytes Flyball team are also kindly volunteering their services. Flyball involves dogs triggering a pedal on a Flyball box to release a ball which the dog must hold before returning to a start line.

The event opens at 11 am with the walk from 1 pm. Tickets are £15 with dogs and children under 17 free. There will also be a fancy dress competition, face painting, delicious hot food and lots of stalls.
