Two of LS Lowry’s painting are to go on show in Salford for the first time - minus their tomato ketchup stains. The two views of The Thames at Greenwich in London have been held in a private collection since 1970s. But the 1957 drawing and 1959 oil painting had a light layer of surface dirt, including what the current owners feared may be two very old ketchup stains.
