Further to your recent article about Mark Addy I can tell your readers that the pub WILL re-open this Friday after major renovation and refurbishment work. Also, there is a book about the River Irwell and Mark Addy available from the pub and direct from the author martingzzz@hotmail.co.uk You may also want to view the new video/song about Mark Addy on Youtube. Just search for 'Mark Addy' and it can be found at the bottom of the first search page - with an old picture of The Irwell. Regards, Martin Gittins

My grandmother used to play piano for silent movies at the Crown Cinema. She lived in Mather Road and gave me piano lessons when I was a child. Her married name was Mabel Wrigley and she was married to Ernest Wrigley. She also worked at Millers Drapers in the lingerie department. Has anybody any records from the Crown Cinema - I would love to find out more about her playing there. Thank you. Allen Greenall
