Lanes re-open on South Langworthy Road after weeks of tram disruption

A lane closure on South Langworthy Road in Salford has been lifted as the next phase of work gets underway on the Eccles Metrolink line.

Since 11 July roads have been partially closed around Weaste, Langworty and MediaCityUK as workers repair sections of curved track along the line between MediaCityUK and Eccles.

Trams began running between Deansgate-Castlefield and MediaCityUK on 1 August.

Eccles commuters will have to wait until the end of August for trams to start running again from the town centre.

Transport for Greater Manchester advise that the northbound lane closure on South Langworthy Road between Broadway and Dallas Court has today been removed.

It’s the end of one-way running on South Langworthy Road.

Traffic is now available to go in both directions towards Eccles New Road but three-way temporary traffic lights are in place at the junction of Dallas Court and Dakota Avenue.

For the final phase of works the temporary traffic lights will move to the Dallas Court near Kansas Avenue before repairs are completed by the end of the month.
