Up to 80 jobs as Quality Save agrees new flagship 22,000sq ft store in Walkden

Budget retailer Quality Save have agreed terms to open a new 22,000sq ft store at the Ellesmere Retail Park in Walkden.

At the planning stage the Salford-based food and homewares seller said up to 50 jobs would be available.

That’s now been bumped up to 80 positions, with management and supervisors taking eight jobs and the rest in sales assistants and shift work.

Quaity Save Director Paul Rudkin said: “We are delighted to be opening our flagship store in Walkden as this is where the business began over 40 years ago.

We will hopefully commence our shop fit in early November when the landlords have the unit ready for us.

“We are hoping to open early February 2017.”

Walkden Town Centre landlords The Derwent Group say the Salford-based food and homewares seller have taken a 15-year lease on Unit 3, the former home of the Club 3000 bingo hall.

It becomes the second Quality Save within 500 yards as the supermarket already has a smaller outlet on the Lower Ground floor of the Walkden Town Centre shopping complex.

Other occupiers in the same complex, gym chain Total Fitness and hair salon Hair Razors are expected to remain open.
