Marc 'Livewire' Leach will bounce back after first pro loss
Young Salford boxer Marc Leach controversially lost his first professional fight on Saturday evening at the Makron Stadium Bolton against Bobby Jenkinson from Lincoln.

The fight was close to being called off at the last minute after Jenkinson weighed in at 8 stone 13lb, 5lb heavier than Marc.

Trainer Oliver Harrison told SalfordOnline.com, "On reflection I should have called the fight off, it doesn't sound a lot, the weight advantage but believe me it really does in the fight game.

"However I had complete confidence in Marc to win the fight and he was so unlucky to lose.

"Marc won the first round hands down, the second round was even but in the third Marc let it slip a bit.

"I made the fourth round even but his opponent was pushing forward more, the judges like this style and this is how the points are scored.

"The other fighter was more experienced having had six fights, winning five and losing one and this record can throw a fighters confidence, especially when its his first profesional fight.

"The judges awarded the fight to Jenkins by one round but in my book Marc definitely won it by one round.

"Marc will bounce back from this setback, and he has my 100% backing and he is straight back in the gym.

"I have to thank all his fans who travelled to Bolton for the fight and really got behind Marc, it reminded me of Steve Fosters fans when he fought, it really helps a fighter to know that his fans are urging him on to win"

The setback has not deterred Marc and Oliver Harrison has arranged for him to return to the ring for a bout scheduled for November this year.

We are certain that Marc has learnt a lot from his first professional fight and will go on to great success and become the new Salford boxing hero.
