Construction has started on site at the largest apartment development in Salford – X1 MediaCity.
Building is being carried out by Liverpool-based Vermont Construction and the first phase of 275 apartments are due for completion by early 2017.
When finshed the £200 million development on Michigan Avenue in Salford Quays will see over 1,000 apartments, 22,700 sq ft of commercial space and an on-site cinema.
Developers Knight Knox International are behind a number of ongoing Salford developments, including the £75m, 450,000 sq ft Adelphi Wharf off Chapel Street.

A subsidiary of the firm, KKI Land Ltd, also bought out Salford’s derelict Skills Centre, near Middlewood Locks, for £650,000 in February this year.
Liverpool-based X1 are also behind the buyout of Salford’s former Magistrates Court at Bexley Square and announced to public consternation their plans to knock down part of the crumbling Grade-II listed building.
The developer acquired the building from Salford City Council for around £800,000 in 2012 to build 122 flats and rebrand it as X1 Town Hall Manchester.
X1 MediaCity will be let and managed in its entirety by X1.
