Swinton gymnast Will, 9, gets acrobatic for St Ann’s Hospice

Gymnast Will Barnes leapt into action on a camping holiday in Wales by putting his acrobatic skills to good use for charity.

Nine-year-old Will, from Swinton, entertained fellow campers by performing a Street Dance routine with friend Stan Hunt, 8, whom he had met on holiday.

Will, a pupil at Clifton Primary School, wanted to help St Ann’s Hospice in Little Hulton through which Macmillan nurses have been treating a relative who has cancer. The boys raised £100 for the hospice from their special show.

Mum Catherine, a physiotherapist, said: “It was Will’s idea and they spent three days rehearsing before going round tents performing their routine in return for donations.

“Will is part of an elite group at Bury Gymnastics Club and loved performing his back flips and somersaults for such a deserving charity. Stan is a dancer and their show got a great reaction from campers.”

Will’s older sister Lucy, 11, who made a poster for the event, is now planning a tea party to raise further funds for St Ann’s.
