Greggs on Eccles Old Road robbed at knifepoint


Police are hunting a man who held up a bakery in Salford at knifepoint this afternoon.

Officers were called to Greggs, at the junction of Eccles Old Road at Victoria Road, at 4.15pm on Tuesday 20 October.

The thief burst into the store and threatened to stab staff unless they handed over cash.

He made off on foot with takings from the till in the direction of Salford Royal Hospital.

No-one was injured but staff were left shaken by the incident.

The offender is described as being white, around 5ft10in tall, wearing grey Nike jogging bottoms and black Nike Air Max trainers, and he had his face covered with a chequered scarf.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
