Man, 43, dies after disturbance in Farnworth


Police are investigating the death of a man in Farnworth.

Shortly before 2am on Saturday 21 November, police were called to reports of a disturbance on Burnham Walk in Farnworth.

Officers attended and found a 43-year-old man who was barely conscious.

The man was taken to hospital where he sadly later died.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. He has been taken into police custody for questioning.

A Home Office post mortem examination took place on Saturday and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Jones of the Major Incident Team said: “We are investigating the circumstances surrounding this man’s death and are making enquiries to establish what exactly took place during this disturbance.

“The man’s family are being supported by our specialist officers at this very difficult time and we are keeping them fully up to date with our
investigation.

“We are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything that they think could assist police with our enquiries to contact us.”
