Post mortem to discover identity of man found dead in Manchester Ship Canal


A post-mortem examination is underway to find out the identity of a man found dead in the Manchester Ship Canal in Salford.

The man’s body was found in water between Pacific Way and Broadway in Weaste, near MediaCityUK, at 11am on Wednesday 16 December.

Emergency crews did not attempt to resuscitate the man and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police said it was too early to say whether there were any suspicious circumstances.

Little is known about the victim at this stage.

Officers were not able to confirm the man’s age, or any identifying description.

The results of the post-mortem are expected on Friday 18 December.
