Salford City land super striker Josh Hine

Goal-happy Chorley forward Josh Hine has signed for Salford City FC for an undisclosed fee.

The prolific 24-year-old ex-Southport and Clitheroe striker has 12 goals this season already.

Hine signed for Chorley at the start of the 2013-2014 and his strikes helped secure promotion to the Conference North.

Salford City Secretary Andy Giblin said: “His signing is a significant statement of intent from the club as we seek to win promotion for the second season in succession.

“The former RAF man is strong, competitive and will add plenty of options to our attacking play.

“We’d like to extend a warm Moor Lane welcome to Josh and trust that his time with us will be happy and successful.”

Hine told the Chorley FC website: “It’s been a difficult decision to make, but I feel the move will help with my career.

“Everything that’s happened so far at Chorley has been brilliant and I feel I’ve done as much as I can with the club. The dressing room has been unbelievable since I joined and I’d like to wish all the lads the very best for the future.”

Chorley Manager Matt Jansen said: “I’m sad see him leave, he really does bring a lot to the team and he’s a striker who’ll do everything – he’ll come and get the ball to feet, he’s very good on the half turn, but then he’s an out-and-out goal scorer.

“Those attributes are always going to attract interest from other teams and we wish him all the best.”
