Man suffers smoke inhalation in Salford chip pan fire

Four fire engines were called to a block of flats in Salford after fire broke out in a kitchen.

Firefighters spent 30 minutes battling the blaze, which could have caused significant damage to the flat at Ladywell Point.

Crews from Eccles, Agecroft and Salford arrived at Pilgrims Way, off Eccles New Road in Salford at 6.40pm last night, Tuesday 8 March.

The source was discovered to be a chip pan that had caught ablaze.

Crews used a fire blanket to smother the flames and bring it under control.

A male occupant suffered from breathing difficulties after inhaling smoke from the fire.

He was treated using an oxygen mask by a Fire Service Trauma Technician but luckily did not need hospital treatment.

After using a high pressure fan to clear smoke from the property, all four engines left the scene at 7.30pm.
