Ideas wanted to improve lives of young people in Salford

Salford City Council is looking for people who want to make a difference in Kersal, Broughton and Charlestown.

The one year pilot scheme has been launched to give the community a voice on how things can be done differently to improve the lives of children and families.

FACT (Fuelling Ambitions Creatively Together) will be launched at the Landing, MediaCityUK, on Thurday 28 April between 9.30am and 4pm, with another session the next day.

It will see people, including key business people, entrepreneurs and community members from the city, come together to put forward inspirational ideas.

Examples generated so far include community owned water taxis on the River Irwell and a digital business centre to help people learn new skills.

Charlotte Ramsden, Strategic Director for Children’s and Adult Services at Salford City Council: “The event will be a friendly get-together of passionate people who are determined to make a difference to the lives of young people.

“We can then form a plan together to put the ideas into action.”

People who attend will receive a complimentary lunch, transport and a shopping voucher.

Places on the course can be booked at https://www.facebook.com/FACTsalford/

A free coach is leaving Albion high School at 9am on Thursday 28 April and Friday 29 April to take people to the event. People can message the team on Facebook to book a seat.
