Top 5 things to do in Salford this weekend


Its the weekend and here are our top tips for things to do this weekend, a selection of summer fairs, Somme memorial events and plenty more.

Salford Red Devils – Friday 1 July -8pm kick off.

Come down to the AJ Bell Stadium and watch Salford Red Devils take on Castleford Tigers in what promises to be an explosive fixture

Monton Festival – Saturday 2 July – 11am -5pm

The popular community festival is back in a new format and location (Duke’s Drive).
It’s expected around 100 stalls selling everything from jewellery, crafts and toys to fashion and games. Not to mention the other activities that will make up the day.

So come along to the new, improved Monton Community Festival and browse the vibrant mix of stalls, activities, entertainment, specialist food and drink, as well as local bands and other performers.

Teddy Bear’s picnic, The Family Pet shows creepy crawlies and cute and furry animals, Monton Baking Competition, MontonFoodandDrink@TheDuke’s (including Afternoon Teas), Local Pet Show, Games, Music Family Activities, Fun Fair on The Green.

Summer Fair – Saturday 2 July – 11am -2pm.

Call in at the Gateway Church on Bright Road, Eccles for a traditional Summer Fair, lots of things to do including, handicrafts, bric a brac, face painting, refreshments and lots more.

Flappers and Flatcaps – Sunday 3 July 1.30pm – 4.30pm

Something completely different…
An afternoon of dressing up, music and songs from the 1920’s against the backdrop of Kersal Moor. Event includes children’s activities, live music, food and drink.

Salford Remembers the Somme – Sunday 3 July – 9am – 4pm

Salford Armed Forces Veterans Network will hold services at St Clement’s Church, Ordsall (morning), and the Royal British Legion, Pendleton (afternoon).

Morning: Service at St Clements Church, Grove Avenue, Ordsall – 10.00-11.00am

Present will be the Lord Lieutenant, The Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Salford MP’s, and The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. The Honour Choir will be providing the music and there will be various speakers around the subject of Salford and the Somme.

Afternoon: Pendleton Royal British Legion, Langworthy Road, Salford – 12-4.00pm

The Band of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and Corps of Drums and Dom Collins. Buffet included.
