There’s launch events happening at the same time all over the country, in London, Bristol, Nottingham, Birmingham, Hull, Glasgow and Cambridge.
Corbyn’s close ally, Salford MP Rebecca Long-Bailey is due to speak at the Salford Quays event.
She was made Chief Secretary to the Treasury in the wake of a mass exodus of MPs from her boss’ Shadow frontbench.
183,000 people who joined the Labour Party in the space of just 48 hours this week will have the chance to vote for either Owen Smith or the embattled Jeremy Corbyn.
Corbyn has had to stave off an attempted backbench coup – which failed as predicted – as well as the attentions of Angela Eagle MP, who was first both to announce she was standing against him for the leadership of the party, and that she was stepping aside in favour of Owen Smith.
Salford’s MPs are split on the issue of Corbyn for leader.

In his own words, Mr Corbyn has asked supporters to livestream the event to social media where possible “as the media cannot be trusted to report it”.
