Shotgun attack on Blantyre Street Swinton – masked man spotted fleeing the scene


Police are investigating after an unknown offender blasted the door of a house in Swinton with a shotgun.

Armed officers were called to Blantyre Street, near Moorside Park, at 11.50pm last night, Wednesday 22 July.

Residents reported hearing two distinct rounds going off.

The force confirmed that they were investigating a firearms discharge and that damage to the door of a house had been discovered consistent with a shotgun.

No one was injured.

A man wearing a balaclava was seen leaving the scene in a dark coloured car.

The scene has been secured for forensic examination and inquiries are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Clare Devlin from Salford division, said: “We are at the early stages of our inquiries, but at this stage we do not believe this was a random attack and there is not believed to be a wider threat to the community.

“Fortunately no-one was injured, but they easily could have been and we have a team of detectives working to find out who is responsible.

“If you saw a dark car in the area of Blantyre Street around midnight last night or you have any information that you believe would be useful to the investigation than please come forward and speak to ourselves.”
