Gunman on motorbike fired shots at Salford house

Police are investigating after a gunman on a motorbike fired shots at a house in Salford.

SalfordOnline.com broke the news with pictures from the scene just minutes after it happened.

At around 9.35pm on Saturday 1 August 2015, officers were called to Douglas Green off Whit Lane in Salford after an unknown offender riding a motorbike fired shots at the front door of a house.

Armed response officers attended the scene and confirmed that damage to the front of the property had been caused by a firearm.

No one was injured.

The scene was secured for forensic examination and inquiries are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Clare Devlin from Salford division, said: “It is still early days in this investigation, but we believe this was a targeted attack and that there is no wider threat to the community.

“However, any time a firearm is discharged on our streets it is a cause for concern and while there were no injuries as a result of this incident that takes nothing away from the severity of this crime.

“As we have seen in recent days and weeks, the threat to life in these instances is very real, so we have a team of detectives working on finding who is responsible so we can remove that threat from our community.

“It will be vital to gather as much information about the attack as we can, so I would ask that anyone who believes they may have seen the shooting, or anything suspicious in the area around the time of the attack, to contact police as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 5345, 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
