A580 East Lancs Rd to close this weekend for Guided Busway work

The A580 East Lancs Road will be closed overnight this weekend as Urban Vision carry out more work for the Leigh Guided Busway.

The road is due to shut between the Walkden Road junction and Moorside Road junction in the Manchester-bound direction, from 10pm on Friday 14 August until Monday 17 August at 5am.

Urban Vision, who are managing the traffic side of the scheme, are carrying out work to resurface the newly widened road.

Diversions will be in place.

Next weekend, Urban Vision will close the Liverpool-bound carriageway in the same place from 10pm on Friday 21 August 2015 until 5am on Monday 24 August 2015 to resurface the opposite side of the road.

Poor weather and more torrential rain is likely to delay the works.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for rain, extending into the evening of Friday 14 August.

Today a 30ft sinkhole appeared on the A57 Mancunian Way after heavy rain flooded a culvert underneath the road.

It’s feared the main route around Manchester could be closed for weeks.
