Last week interim coach Ian Watson talked to SalfordOnline.com alongside Tim Sheens. Both said this tie, and the whole Super 8’s competition was a chance for their new club to stave off relegation.
The playoff series gives Salford “more to play for than we would normally have at this point in the season”, Watson believes.

Sheens was more circumspect. One suspects if Salford lose, and lose badly, he may have more to say.
Salford have been rocked by the Theo Fages revelations this week that he would resign over alleged breach of contract. We probably don’t need to mention the ruckus over Kevin Locke.
It all adds up to a fascinating situation, psychologically.
