Both men were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. The 20-year old was also arrested on a drugs possession charge.

They are the fourth and fifth men to be arrested after the shooting, which happened shortly after 12.10am on Wednesday 12 August.

At least one bullet was fired through the upstairs window of a house on Thornfield Grove by an unidentified gunman.

No one was hurt but the window was smashed and a young family, including a baby, are understood to have been sleeping inside at the time.

A 17-year-old and 20-year-old were arrested on weapons and drugs charges yesterday evening after a raid at a house on Mossbrook Grove in Little Hulton. Officers seized cannabis growing equipment from the property.

The investigation continues and enquiries are ongoing.

Police are not linking the shooting to the murder of Paul Massey in Clifton on Sunday 26 July.

Detectives are probing whether the broad daylight shooting of a 33-year-old man on Normanton Avenue in Weaste on Wednesday evening is linked to the fatal shooting of the former gang boss.

At around 6.15pm on Wenesday 12 August shocked residents told SalfordOnline.com how they heard four distinct gunshots on the quiet cul-de-sac. The street has been cordoned off since the shooting.

The victim is still recovering from a gunshot wound to the hip..
