A57 Mancunian Way closed: Major flooding causing traffic chaos

Police have closed the A57 Mancunian Way in central Manchester in both directions after torrential downpours caused flooding this morning.

At the moment officers are directing traffic in a bid to get the jams under control.

By 10.30am on Friday 14 August the road was been shut between the A635 Mancunian Way and the A56 Chester roundabout.

There are now delays onto Regent Road and the M602 heading into Salford, as well as on the A6042 Trinity Way.

On the M60 in both the clockwise and anti-clockwise directions surface water flooding is causing delays for drivers between Junction 12 for the M602 and Junction 10 for Trafford Park.

Hazardous driving conditions are expected between Junction 11 for Eccles, Barton and Junction 6 at Sale throughout the morning.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain across the North West into Friday evening.

Further heavy rain is expected across northern parts of England throughout the day, with the rain gradually easing from the south.
